It’s always important to denote the “first post” in a new weblog. It’s like smashing a bottle against a ship, getting drunk on your prom night, or carrying a bride over the threshold. It’s ceremonial and it’s necessary. That said, none of those events are significant in any other way than their ceremony (after all, how important is a bottle of champagne or a single step?) and neither is this first post.

Therefore, I’m going to use this first post as a testbed for my own testing of the styles that will be used on this site. If I may quote myself:
